FAQ - 14dBi UHF RFID Tool Cabinet Asset Management Antenna
A UHF RFID antenna enables communication between an RFID reader and UHF RFID tags using radio frequency signals. It transmits energy to passive tags and receives their responses, allowing the reader to identify tagged items without direct line of sight in many applications. UHF RFID antennas are commonly used in inventory management, logistics, asset tracking, and access control. Their gain, polarization, and radiation pattern influence how tags are detected within a reading area.
The main difference is the operating frequency band and the regional regulations under which the antenna can be used. The Airplux 14dBi RFID asset management antenna operates at 865–868MHz, while some UHF RFID systems use the 902–928MHz band in other regions. The antenna, reader, and tags must support a compatible frequency band, and the selected configuration must comply with local radio regulations.
The Airplux 14dBi RFID asset management antenna has a specified operating temperature range of -20°C to 60°C and measures 720 × 500 × 20mm. Its black organic glass radome provides the antenna enclosure. These specifications help determine whether the antenna fits the available mounting space and operating environment. Before installation, also check the mounting support, cable routing, and any environmental protection requirements for the intended location.
Yes, an RFID system can identify multiple tagged assets during the same reading process when the reader and tags support multi-tag operation. The Airplux antenna operates at 865–868MHz and uses circular polarization. The number of assets read reliably depends on the reader’s anti-collision capability, tag spacing and placement, surrounding materials, and antenna configuration. Testing the system with the actual assets helps verify performance.
Circular polarization can help an RFID antenna communicate with tags positioned at different angles, which is useful when equipment and tools are not always stored in the same orientation. The Airplux 14dBi antenna uses circular polarization to support asset tracking in changing tag orientations. However, reading reliability also depends on tag design, mounting position, nearby metal or other materials, and reader settings.
The Airplux 14dBi RFID asset tracking antenna uses an SMA-Female connector and has a 50Ω impedance. Before connecting it to an RFID reader, check that the reader’s antenna port or connecting cable has a compatible interface. Also consider cable length and cable loss, since losses between the reader and antenna can reduce the RF power delivered to the antenna.
