Long Range RFID Antenna

Long Range RFID Antenna

Model: APRIA9009CC

Frequency Range: 902-928MHz

Polarization: Circular

Gain: 9dBi

Product Descriptions

Airplux 9dbi long range UHF RFID Antenna is engineered for superior performance in the 902-928MHz band, making it ideal for inventory tracking, access control, and industrial RFID portals.

Electrical highlights: With 9dBi gain and a symmetrical 70° beam width (both horizontal and vertical), it delivers reliable circular-polarized coverage. The ≤1.4 VSWR and ≥20dB front-to-back ratio ensure excellent impedance matching and low interference. Impedance is 50Ω, maximum power handling is 50W, and DC ground lightning protection provides built-in surge safety.

Mechanical durability: The compact 260×260×30mm ABS white radome houses an N-type female connector. Net weight is 1.1kg, gross weight 1.68kg, and packing size 29×29×8cm. It supports pole diameters of Φ30-50mm, operates from -40°C to 70°C, and withstands rated wind velocities up to 60m/s—making it a rugged choice for both outdoor and industrial RFID deployments.

FAQ - 9dBi Long Range RFID Antenna

An RFID antenna transmits and receives radio frequency signals between an RFID reader and RFID tags. It enables the reader to communicate with tags and retrieve their stored identification data. In a typical RFID system, the antenna works with the reader, tags, and software to support functions such as inventory tracking, asset identification, and access control. Antenna selection affects the reading area, communication performance, and reliability of the overall RFID system.

Circularly polarized RFID antennas are useful when tag orientations vary or cannot be controlled, while linearly polarized antennas generally perform best when tag and antenna polarization are properly aligned. Circular polarization can help improve the likelihood of detecting tags at different orientations, although actual performance depends on the tag, antenna placement, and RF environment. For outdoor inventory tracking and access control, circular polarization can be a practical choice when items pass through the reading area in different positions.

Beamwidth describes the angular width of an antenna’s main radiation pattern. The Airplux APRIA9009CC has a specified beamwidth of 70° in both horizontal and vertical planes. This helps buyers evaluate how the antenna may cover a defined reading area when mounted in the intended position. The actual read zone also depends on antenna orientation, reader power, tag characteristics, mounting distance, and nearby structures, so on-site testing remains important.

A 9dBi RFID antenna can be suitable for outdoor access control when the system requires directional tag detection at a designated entrance or checkpoint. Circular polarization can help accommodate tags presented at different orientations, while antenna positioning helps define the intended reading area. The Airplux APRIA9009CC supports 902–928MHz and includes DC ground lightning protection. The final setup should be tested with the actual reader and tags to reduce missed reads and unintended detection.

Outdoor antennas can be exposed to electrical surges associated with lightning and other transient events. DC ground lightning protection provides a grounding path for certain unwanted electrical energy, helping reduce risk to connected equipment when installed correctly. The Airplux antenna specifies DC ground lightning protection. However, this feature does not make an installation immune to lightning damage. Proper grounding, bonding, cable routing, and compliance with applicable site protection requirements remain essential.

The Airplux 9dBi UHF RFID antenna supports pole diameters of 30–50 mm, making it suitable for compatible pole-mount installations. Before mounting, confirm that the pole and mounting hardware can support the antenna under the expected wind and environmental loads. Position the antenna toward the intended reading area, secure the mounting hardware, and protect cable connections from moisture and mechanical strain. Final positioning should be verified through on-site tag-reading tests.
