698-4000MHz 5G Low PIM DAS Antenna Portfolio

——Carrier-Class Indoor Antennas for High-Performance DAS and Small Cell Networks

Modern DAS networks demand more than broad frequency support. They require consistent coverage, low interference, and reliable RF performance across increasingly complex indoor environments.

Airplux’s 698–4000MHz 5G Low PIM DAS antenna portfolio combines wideband coverage with carrier-grade low PIM performance to help improve signal quality in distributed antenna systems and small cell deployments. Available in Ultra Thin Omni, Omni Ceiling, and Indoor Panel form factors, the portfolio supports both SISO and MIMO configurations, allowing network designers to select the most suitable coverage solution for each deployment scenario.

Engineered for commercial buildings, airports, hospitals, stadiums, and other high-density venues, these antennas deliver low passive intermodulation performance of -150 dBc @ 2×43 dBm, helping reduce unwanted interference while supporting reliable indoor wireless connectivity across multiple cellular bands.

What Is a Low PIM DAS Antenna?

A Low PIM DAS antenna is designed to minimize passive intermodulation, a form of unwanted signal distortion that can occur when RF signals interact with connectors, cables, or antenna components. In modern 4G LTE and 5G networks, low PIM performance helps maintain signal quality, improve network efficiency, and support more reliable wireless coverage.

Understanding PIM and Network Performance

In modern 5G DAS networks, signal quality is just as important as signal strength. While coverage can often be improved by adding more antennas, excessive passive intermodulation (PIM) may still introduce unwanted interference that affects overall network performance. This is why low PIM components have become a common requirement in carrier-grade indoor wireless systems.

01.Cleaner RF Signals

Low PIM antennas help reduce unwanted interference within the RF system, supporting more reliable signal transmission.

02.Better Indoor Coverage

A cleaner RF environment contributes to more consistent coverage throughout offices, airports, shopping malls, and other indoor spaces.

03.Improved User Experience

Reducing interference helps maintain stable voice and data connections, particularly in high-density environments.

typical low PIM DAS applications

Low PIM antennas are commonly used in environments where reliable indoor cellular coverage, network capacity, and signal quality are critical. As modern buildings become more connected and user density continues to increase, low PIM DAS solutions help support stable wireless performance across a wide range of indoor applications.

Airports and Transportation Hubs

Large public facilities often require seamless coverage across terminals, waiting areas, retail zones, and operational spaces. Low PIM DAS antennas help support reliable connectivity throughout these complex indoor environments.

Stadiums and Large Venues

High user density and heavy network traffic place significant demands on wireless infrastructure. Low PIM antennas help maintain network quality during peak usage periods.

Hospitals and Healthcare Facilities

Reliable wireless communication is essential for staff, patients, and connected medical systems. Indoor DAS networks help improve coverage across treatment areas, corridors, and public spaces.

Commercial Office Buildings

Modern offices depend on stable voice and data connectivity. Low PIM DAS antennas support consistent indoor coverage across meeting rooms, workspaces, and shared areas.

ultra thin omni VS ceiling omni VS panel:Which One Fits Your Deployment?

Not every indoor coverage project requires the same antenna design. Factors such as ceiling height, building aesthetics, coverage area, and installation environment can all influence antenna selection. Understanding the strengths of each antenna type can help simplify deployment planning and improve overall DAS performance.

Ultra Thin Omni Antenna

Designed for environments where aesthetics matter as much as wireless performance. Its low-profile design helps the antenna blend naturally into modern interiors while still providing broad omnidirectional coverage.

Ceiling Omni Antenna

A versatile choice for general indoor DAS deployments. Ceiling omni antennas provide uniform 360° coverage and are commonly used in large open indoor spaces.
Best For
• Office floors
• Hospitals
• Schools
• Commercial buildings

Indoor Panel Antenna

Panel antennas provide more directional coverage and are often selected when signals need to be focused toward a specific area or corridor.
Best For
• Hallways
• Tunnels
• Long corridors
• Targeted coverage zones

Frequently Asked Questions About 5G Low PIM DAS Antennas

A Low PIM DAS antenna is built specifically to reduce passive intermodulation—unwanted radio interference caused by non-linear components like connectors, cables, or the antenna structure itself. In 5G and DAS networks, low PIM antennas help keep signals clean, support higher data rates, and make indoor coverage more reliable.

5G uses more frequency bands and packs in more capacity than previous generations, which makes the RF environment much more complex. Too much PIM creates interference that eats into signal quality. Low PIM antennas reduce that interference, so operators can maintain stronger signals and more consistent coverage.

For carrier-grade DAS deployments, a PIM level of -150 dBc or lower at 2×43 dBm is generally seen as excellent. The lower the number, the less interference the system generates. Many 5G DAS installations specify low PIM performance to meet operator standards and keep the network stable.

It doesn’t boost signal strength directly. Instead, it cuts down on unwanted RF noise inside the system. With less interference, the network operates more efficiently, which means cleaner transmission, steadier coverage, and better performance in busy indoor spaces.

Not always. For simple or low-demand setups, a standard antenna may be enough. But for carrier-grade DAS, multi-operator systems, stadiums, airports, and modern 4G/5G rollouts, low PIM is strongly recommended. In those environments, controlling interference is critical.

The main difference is how well the antenna suppresses passive intermodulation. Standard antennas can work fine in less demanding environments. Low PIM DAS antennas are engineered to minimize RF interference and support higher network performance, which is why they’re preferred for 5G indoor systems and carrier-class deployments.

Loose connectors, damaged cables, cheap RF components, corrosion, dirt, or poor installation can all drive up PIM. Even with low PIM antennas, the rest of the system matters—quality cables and proper connectors are essential if you want the antenna to perform as designed.
